John 'Juan' Smolinski acknowledges the late Herb Scott of Western Michigan University for inspiring him to pursue a passion for writing poetry, and the Great School of Life for providing subject matter.
He has read his verse in Arizona, Texas, Florida and Michigan and has had poems published in zines and poetry collections in Arizona, Texas and Michigan.
John is a contributing poet in 'Layers', an anthology published by Plainview Press of Austin, Texas. With this chapbook he fulfills a dream of publishing a collection of Pantoums, a Malaysian form of which he is most fond.
