Remembering
9/11/01 on 9/11/11
by Tonja Dudley Bagwell
I don’t want to remember,
but everyone else remembers,
so I must try to remember
the disastrous tragedy that
hurts the memory section
of one’s mind because it’s
attached to the emotional
side that remembers the
screams, tears, fear, agony,
blood, smoke, debris, and
mass destruction that
is not remembered by
those who were killed,
but is painfully remembered
by loved ones, survivors,
and others left to mourn
their horrific deaths.
Stories of planes, demolition,
rescues, bravery, renewal,
and American spirit can be
replayed on videos; seen in
photos; watched on TV clips;
heard on radios; read in newspapers
and magazines; talked about on
Twitter, Facebook and talk shows;
written about in books and blogs;
and experienced in memorials
that will ensure we all remember
the victims and heroes on
September 11th, the day
America’s soil was stomped on
and American hearts and minds
were cast into a daunting place
that can never be forgotten,
so we will Remember!
